So, it finally happened - someone had a tablet crash.
Recovery steps:
1. Follow the instructions at http://windows.microsoft.com/en-AU/windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media
2. Download and extract http://www.hyrel3d.net/downloads/updater/repetrel-2.828.zip to C:\
3. Download and execute http://www.hyrel3d.net/downloads/updater/EcosystemApps.exe with C: as your target directory (this will be the default).
4. Success!
Note, steps 2 and 3 can be used to install the Hyrel environment on another computer as well.
